TV Technology - The guts!

Here are a few diagrams that break down TV technology from the inside.  This gets extremely technical, if
questions arise, contact us for further information.

LCD Display Technology
The left image depicts an "edge-lit" LED TV, with the backlighting located
at each side of the screen, along the edge of the bezel. The right image
illustrates traditional LED backlight placement directly behind the screen.
LED TV's with local dimming offer greater color accuracy and
superior black levels than traditional LCD TV's.  The local
dimming feature, available on certain models, only turns on the
lights that are needed for image.  The rest of the lights are off,
which allows for a more realistic black level reproduction; thus,
increasing overall color reproduction and accuracy... not to
mention additional energy reduction.

LED TV Backlight
(w/local dimming)
A traditional LCD TV uses CCFL backlighting - which is basically a small florescent light, much like what you would see in commercial
buildings.  LED TV's are actually LCD TV; however, they utilize LED backlighting.  LED's are superior because they are 'ssmaller, use
less energy, generate less heat and last longer than the CCFL light sources.
